Drug Trafficking A Major Threat In Caribbean, Central America

CaribWorldNews, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. Feb. 26, 2010: Drug trafficking has become a major security threat in Central America and the Caribbean.

That’s the word from the annual report of the International Narcotics Control Board. The report says drug traffickers in Central America and the Caribbean are increasingly using light aircraft with stolen or falsified registration numbers to transport illegal substances.

And researchers claimed that drug trafficking by sea also remains a problem in the region.

The report added that drug trafficking is contributing to increasing drug abuse and homicides linked to organized crime.
