Grenada weightlifter  places second in the USA

Placing second for the second time in weightlifting at the 2018 competition in the USA is weightlifter, Dominic Pierre, AKA Shark who hails from the rural village of Telescope in St Andrew’s.

Pierre has been lifting weights since 2004 when he weighed 220 pounds. He now weighs 265 pounds and is more deeply involved in the sport. 

 Last year he participated in a major competition in the USA and placed second, his best performance up to that time. 

He had previously competed here in Grenada a few years ago and placed 4th, He competed twice in the twin-island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and placed 4th in both competitions. He has since received a number of medals and trophies.

Pierre said that he was inspired by weightlifters like Marcus Grisly, and Mark Evlyn Pope his coach. 

In Grenada, he trained at Geomax Fitness Club in Grenville and Fit For Life Club, which facilitated his preparation for the various competitions.

Pierre is looking forward to the upcoming competition in Las Vegas in November of this year with the hope of placing first and earning the heavyweight title. 

He identified and thanked the Government of Grenada through the Ministry of Sports, Dollar Savers Brake Shop/Auto Parts Shop and Village Bakery for their sponsorship and promotion, which gave him the opportunity to participate in the events.
