Grenville Magistrate Court sat for the first time in 2018

The Grenville Magistrate Court resumed operations for the New Year last Monday and Magistrate John seems ready to face 2018, which many believe would be another challenging year.

However, Magistrate John believes a lot of old matters that have been creating a backlog must be disposed of this year, as she would have to make some decisions on them.

Not many matters were heard on the first day but most those that were given attention were adjourned.

One accused man was granted five thousand dollars bail on an unlawful damage to property charge.

Other accused persons who were brought up from the Richmond Hill Prison were sent back on remand.

Basil Farray alias Baybaye a well-known vagrant from Birchgrove who frequents the town of Grenville, accused of stealing money and a bag containing important documents from a Telescope man sometime ago in Grenville, denied taking the bag and the cash from the complainant and was further remanded to a later date.
