Guyana Opposition Leadership Fight Down To Two

CaribWorldNews, GEORGETOWN, Guyana, Fri. Aug. 21, 2009:  The battle for the leadership of Guyana’s main opposition Peoples National Congress Reform is now down to two men.

The face-off is now between the incumbent, Robert Corbin, and former party chairman, Winston Murray.

Barbados-based management consultant, Dr. Aubrey Armstrong and former health minister and PAHO employee, Dr. Richard Van West Charles, have both now officially dropped out of the race.
Van West Charles on Thursday threw his support behind Murray who said he is hoping to be elected to head the party despite his mixed ethnicity.

The PNCR is largely an Afro-Guyanese supported party.
