Royal Canadian Mint Making Waves in the Caribbean

OTTAWA, Ontario, Oct. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — The Royal Canadian Mint is pleased to announce recent contract wins with the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB), the Central Bank of Barbados and Centrale Bank van Curacao en Sint Maarten, representing both circulation and numismatic coins.

The recent contracts include:

  • Production of one-cent circulation coins for the ECCB.  This represents a re-order for this denomination, with the ECCB being a customer of the Mint’s since 2008.  The ECCB is the monetary authority of a group of eight independent Caribbean nations, namely namely Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, and St Vincent and the Grenadines.
  • Production of five-cent circulation coins for the Central Bank of Barbados.  The Mint has been proudly working with the Central Bank of Barbados since 1978.
  • A first-ever numismatic coin contract with the Centrale Bank van Curacao en Sint Maarten to produce painted nickel-silver coins to celebrate the 4th edition of the Curacao North Sea Jazz Festival, which took place at the end of August.
