A fifty-year old man from the village of Woburn in St George’s was pronounced dead by medical experts on Tuesday shortly after he was discovered motionless in the bathroom area at the St George’s Medical Centre on Melville Street.
According to information reaching the Grenada Informer, the gentleman who goes by the name of Phillip Weekes visited the facility to seek medical attention but never got to fulfil that intention as that mission ended with just a visit to the bathroom where his body was later discovered by someone who attempted to use the facility after him.
Informer met and spoke with a number of people who were asked to clear the facility after the police and doctors were called in to assess the situation and the general consensus was, shortly after Weekes entered the facility, he headed directly to the washroom and although he never returned, no one checked on him or realized that he was in any difficulty.
Speaking to authorities at the Public Relation Department of the Royal Grenada Police Force on Wednesday the deceased name and address were confirmed, however, the cause of death was yet to be determined up to press time on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, challenged by time constraints in putting this publication to bed, we were somewhat restricted in getting to the bottom of what actually happened at the St. Georges Health Center or who exactly Weekes is, nevertheless we were told that he has a history of substance abuse and is also known to suffer from other medical conditions.
The Phillip Weekes mentioned in this article is not to be confused with another person of the same name who resides at Springs, St. George’s.
