CaribWorldNews, KINGSTON, Jamaica, Fri. July 23, 2010: The brother of accused Jamaican-born drug lord, Christopher `Dudus` Coke, is set to appear in a Jamaica court next week to answer charges of illegal gun possession and shooting with intent.
Police in Jamaica say the charges against Leighton Coke are linked to the bloody stand-off between police and gunmen in May, during the search for `Dudus` Coke. At least 73 civilians and three security officers died during the four-day confrontation.
Police in a statement Thursday said that Leighton Coke was a leading figure in the drug ring that his brother ran in the eastern United States from a slum in Jamaica.
Leighton Coke is scheduled to appear in court on July 30. Dudus remains in jail in New York.
