
The five-member boxing contingent, which participated in the Caribbean Development Boxing Tournament in Guyana from 25th to 30th November 2015, returned to Grenada with two bronze medals.
From all reports coming out of Georgetown, Guyana, the three Grenadian boxers gave good accounts of themselves.
After the official weighing and draw for placement, all three came up against tough opponents from host country Guyana, the second best rated team after Cuba in the wider Caribbean.
17 Year light welterweight Kemrond Moses and super-heavyweight Andy Andall captured bronze medals for Grenada.
Young bantamweight Nelon Cyrus said that he was happy to compete among the best in the region and gained a lot of experience while observing various fighting techniques in about 100 fights during the entire tournament.
This was strictly a development tournament, which was geared toward serving as a nursery for the production of boxers for elite competitions staged by the American Boxing Confederation- AMBC and/or International Boxing Federation -AIBA, and to give technical officials of the region an opportunity to get much needed practice in preparation for moving forward in the the AIBA training program.
