No `Next Food Network Star` Title For Jamaican American


CaribWorldNews, NEW YORK, NY, Mon. Aug. 3, 2009: The title of `The Next Food Network Star` was last night won by Melissa d`Arabian.

Jamika Pessoa, born to Jamaican parents, lost her chance to win the title when she was booted off the show.

Pessoa, who described herself as a `true island girl,` made the top four before being given the boot.

The 30-year-old is a personal chef from Atlanta and was hoping to follow in the footsteps of last year`s winner of `The Next Food Network Star,` Aaron McCargo, the show`s first black winner and host of the weekend favorite, `Big Daddy`s House.`
