TJB was created in 1995, out of concern for the well-being and the need to provide assistance for the athletes and officials from Jamaica and the Caribbean.
It was established, with the help and assistance of corporate sponsorships, community businesses and organizations, coupled with a strong volunteer group. TJB provides meals, transportation and amenities for the duration of the stay pf athletes and officials staying in Philadelphia.
In 1999, Team Jamaica Bickle became the first Jamaican organization to be a participating sponsor at the Penn Relays, thus allowing them to partner with corporate friends. A distinction unmatched and as a result the Jamaican flag became the 1st foreign flag to be flown at the Penn Relays. TJB has received several proclamations from the Mayor of Philadelphia.
