Government to build Shrine at Fort George to honour those killed in October 1983 mass killings

Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell has announced the government’s intention to build a shrine at Fort George to honour former Prime Minister Maurice Bishop and others who lost their lives on October 19, 1983 following a bloody power struggle for control of the then ruling New Jewel Movement (NJM) and the Grenada Revolution.
